SOUTHERN PINES, NC - Jamestown High golfer Emily Salamy shot a 1-over-
par 72 Monday to finish tied for third after the first round of the Peggy Kirk Bell Golf Tour tournament at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in North Carolina.

Salamy qualified for Monday's event with her victory at the Bash at the Bay Classic held at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg in June.

The senior finished two strokes behind Sanford, North Carolin's Siranon Shoomee, who shot a 1-under-par 70. Sarah Spicer carded a 70 to finish at even par, followed by Rhea Bhatia, and Salamy in a tie for third in the Bell Division (Prep Series).

Salamy, an all-state golfer last fall, missed the first Bay Rivers District match of the season Monday played on the Yorktown Course at Williamsburg National Golf Club.
