Williamsburg Revolution opens Cal Ripken World Series play on Saturday

WINCHESTER – The Williamsburg Revolution 10U all-stars left Thursday morning on the road trip of a lifetime, a chance to play for a Cal Ripken Baseball World Series title.

More than 100 parents, fans and Williamsburg Youth League supporters packed Hudgins Holiday Chevrolet Cadillac on Second Street for a rousing sendoff to Winchester. Click here for video.

The Cal Ripken World Series will get underway on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the open ceremonies. The Revolution will play its first game on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. against the Southeastern champions from Sarasota Sting from Florida.

Williamsburg will continue pool play Sunday with a game against the Ohio Valley champions from Lexington, Kentucky. On Monday, they will face the Pacific Southwest Region
champions from Honolulu, Hawaii.

The top team from pool play will advance to the knockout stage, which will begin, Thursday, August 14.
