WINCHESTER
– Williamsburg Revolution 10U all-star team dropped their second straight game
of pool play Sunday during the Cal Ripken World Series held in Winchester.
Lexington Crush
scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning during a 10-3 loss. Ben Prather
had three hits, including a solo home run, and scored three runs to lead the
Kentucky all-stars. Austin Potts had two
hits and drove in two runs.
Williamsburg’s
offense started strong, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Jackson Underwood and Logan Koselke singled and moved into scoring position
with two outs. Price Whitaker cleared the bases with a double to left field to
give the Revolution a 2-0 lead.
The Crush answered with two runs in the top of the third to tie the game. Jackson Torbey
scored on Prather’s RBI-single. Prather scored later in the inning on an error.
Lexington
took its first lead in the fourth as Prather led off the inning with a solo
blast to right field. Later in the inning, Jacob Lane singled to score Potts
for a 4-2 advantage.
Williamsburg
didn’t go away quietly. The Revolution loaded the bases with one out in the
bottom of the fifth inning. Jayden Jones’
groundout scored Whitaker from third to cut the lead to 4-3. Spencer Bennington
struck out the next batter as Lexington maintained a one-run lead.
Kentucky
broke the game open with a six-run, sixth inning. Trenton Taylor and Potts delivered
two-run doubles to spark the rally. Mark Van Dyke added a run-scoring single
with two outs and later scored on a passed ball for a 10-3 win
Koselke
and Whitaker had two hits to lead Williamsburg. Hanson scored two runs in the
loss.
Paul
Williams allowed three earned runs on nine hits and struck out two in five
innings for the Revolution.
Bennington
allowed one run on one hit and struck out two in two innings of relief to pick
up the win for Lexington.
Williamsburg
(0-2) will face the Hawaii all-stars from Honolulu at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
