Ford's Colony, Wellington among the unbeaten teams left in VPSU

We’re halfway through the Virginia Peninsula Swim Union season and there are still six undefeated teams.

Kingswood and Greensprings are battling for supremacy in Division 1. Ford’s Colony and Coventry have identical 3-0 records in Division 2. Williamsburg Community Pool and Wellington are both unbeaten in Division 3 heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.

Here’s a breakdown of what happened this week.

In Division 2, The Ford’s Colony Killer Whales rolled to 369-117 victory over Indigo Park. Annelle Conradie, Chris Kostelni, Colby Hurt, Jake Cantrell, Linnea Patterson, Madison Meredith and Nathan Ramer earned triple-winner status for Ford’s Colony. Lauren Lynn and Theo Conradie won both events in the 6-under division.

The Coventry Sailfish kept pace with a 345-140 victory over Powhatan Secondary. Anders Yankowski, Isabella Kimbel, Joey Salomon, Jonathan Spiers, Kyleigh Tankard and Ryan Griffin won three events apiece for Coventry.

In Division 3, Wellington continued to impress with a 287-197 victory over Windsor Great Park. Sarah Niewola, Sam Grable, William Mayner, Ellerie Tobler and Cole Rippel were among the Waves swimmers to win multiple individual events.

Williamsburg Community Pool improved to 3-0 with a 288-203 victory over Kingspoint.

In Division1, Kingswood defeated Windsor Forest 277-218 in one of the VPSU’s oldest neighborhood rivalry meets. Sam Long, Lazuli Cristol, Sofia Long, Pearl Kluger and Matthew Sawyer won three events apiece to lead the Klams.

Greensprings kept pace with a decisive 266-229 victory over Kingsmill. The Klams and the Gators will meet on July 14 in a competition that should decide the division title.
