JAMES
CITY – High school football practice doesn’t officially kick off until July 31
for most team in greater Williamsburg.
For
Trey Neville, his two-a-day practices will start on Thursday as he’s been
invited to participate in Football University’s Top Gun Camp in Dublin, Ohio.
The
Lafayette High product earned a spot at the prestigious camp after excelling at
the Top Gun Invitational camp in Northern Virginia earlier this summer. The
junior tight end earned Most Valuable Player honors by his position coach and
earned a spot at the Top Gun Showcase.
“It
definitely means a lot to me as it a highly competitive national camp,” Neville
said. "I'm looking forward to competing against some of the best players in the country and to show what I can do. I also hope to further my knowledge of the game through the excellent coaching at the camp."
Neville was an all-conference lineman on both
sides of the ball for Jamestown High last fall. He transferred to Lafayette in
the spring and is projected to play tight end and defensive line for the Rams.
The 6-foot-4, 230-pound junior should be a major factor in the offense this
fall.
