OTTAWA
– Onrea Jones’ dream of playing professional football continues.
The
former Bruton High and Hampton University standout announced last weekend that
he had signed with the Canadian Football League’s Ottawa RedBlacks.
"It's fun to play in Canada," Jones said on Monday from Ottawa. "It reminds me more of a college atmosphere."

Jones
was released in May by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats after two seasons with the club.
The 6-foot-2 wideout caught 74 passes for eight touchdowns and 969 receiving
yards in his CFL career.
He
also made an impact on special teams, averaging 26.8 yards in two seasons on
kickoff returns.
Jones
professional career began in 2007 when he signed a free agent deal with the
Houston Texans. He has spent time with several NFL clubs, including the Green
Bay Packers, San Diego Chargers, Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, Washington
Redskins and the Indianapolis Colts.
His
CFL career started in 2012 after signing a deal with Hamilton. Jones will be
reunited with former Tiger-Cats QB Henry Burris in Ottawa. Tommy DeMarco, a
former standout quarterback at Old Dominion University, is also on the roster.
Jones said that he had a temporary job was coaching high school football in Arizona when he got the call from Ottawa. "I've been dealing with football for awhile now and I was at peace if my career was over," he said. "But to get a few calls from ther teams really made me feel good."
The
RedBlacks are 1-3 this season, including a 33-23 loss to Hamilton last
Saturday. Ottawa will take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the reigning Grey
Cup champions, on Saturday, Aug. 2.
