POQUOSON – Griffin Colorado entered Monday’s doubleheader
with Poquoson Post 273 with just one run batted in during nine contests.
The former Jamestown High standout added to his total in
a big way, leading Williamsburg Post 39 to a doubleheader sweep to extend their
winning streak to 11 in a row.
Colorado went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and drove in
four runs to lead the Wildflowers to a 15-1 victory in five innings.
Williamsburg scored seven runs in the third inning and
added five more in the fourth to cruise to the win. Nine different players
drove in runs for Post 39.
Kent Klyman scored three runs, while Michael Brumfield
and Jordan Hackney added two runs apiece.
Brumfield improved to 3-0 on the hill. The former Warhill
High product scattered one run on five hits and struck out eight.
In the second game, Post 39 scored the first six runs and
coasted to an 11-2 road victory.
Mikey Anerton had two hits and drove in three runs to
lead the Williamsburg team. Liam Lowery had two hits with 2 RBI and scored a pair
of runs. Matt Smith had two hits and scored two runs.
Blake Otey allowed two runs on eight hits and struck out
10 in seven innings to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Williamsburg Post 39 will travel to Deltaville Tuesday to
take on Middlesex Post 241. Game time is 7 p.m.
