Williamsburg defeated Glen Allen, 5-3. |
WARRENTON
– Williamsburg Revolution 10U team secured a berth in the Babe Ruth of Virginia
state tournament finals Saturday with a 5-3 victory over defending champion
Glen Allen at Stuarts Field near Warrenton.
The
win gave the Revolution at least a berth to the Southeastern Regional
tournament. If Williamsburg wins the state tournament, they will represent Virginia
in the Cal Ripken Baseball World Series to be held in Winchester on Aug. 7.
Pitching
was the story for the Revolution, as Bobby Wilson was nothing short of
sensation. The right-hander allowed three runs and struck out nine en route to
the complete game victory.
Wilson
also helped his own cause at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run
scored.
Logan
Koselke had the biggest hit of the game, a three-run triple, to give
Williamsburg the lead. Paul Williams had three hits and scored a run. Price
Whitaker and Kevin Cole each went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Luke Hanson had a
hit and drove in a run.
The
Revolution will play Sunday at 3:30 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.
