Revolution 9U rallies to beat New Kent, 7-3

JAMES CITY – Both of the Williamsburg Revolution 9U victories at the Babe Ruth of Virginia state tournament had come by more than double digits.

Coach George Amory’s team proved they could rally for a victory Saturday afternoon during a 7-3 victory over District 1 rival New Kent in an elimination game held at Warhill District Park.

Andy Homer’s run-scoring single to center in the top of the fifth inning snapped a 3-3 tie. New Kent tried to answer in the bottom of the inning, but starter Griffin Wahl stranded runners on second and third to maintain the one-run lead.

The Revolution tacked on three insurance runs in the top of the sixth. Wahl hit triple to the wall in left field to score Ryan Terrell. One batter later, Wahl scored on a Braden Dudeck’s groundout to shortstop. Ware scored later in the inning on the back end of a double steal.

Kameron Eggleston had two hits for Williamsburg. Terrell scored two runs and Noah Katz added another one.

Wahl allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out two to post his second win of the tournament. Ware pitched a scoreless sixth inning to secure the win.

Williamsburg will return to action at 10 a.m. Sunday when they face Shenandoah for a berth in the tournament finals.
